Island Hopping...

Hi all, Su here.  Sorry for the long silence, we have adapted to 'Thai Time' very smoothly and have been on a go slow since we last wrote and have been enjoying every minute of it.  After living it up for 2 fabulous weeks in Koh Lanta we travelled across the country to Koh Samui, a very popular holiday destination.  It wasn't really our scene so we stayed only a few days.  The weather broke and it rained for the duration here (much like the weather at home I believe) so the camera didn't come out much.  However we did find one worth taking, this sign which was on our bathroom wall....

It made us laugh every time we saw it.  Thailand is funny like that.  They have their own version of the English language which they exhibit on many of their signs. Here's a few more

This was the sign for our guesthouse in Samui and yes it was very 'romantic on the beach'.

A 'genuine' old Irish Barrel top in the local Irish pub

This sign is outside a national bank in Phuket, we're not too sure why!

And finally...

Even Ronald McDonald gives you a Thai welcome..

So after a few wet and windy days in Samui we took a boat to the nearby island of Koh Phangan where they hold the monthly full moon party.  This is basically a big beach party where thousands of people come to drink, dance and party the night away under the light of a full moon.

The main drink of choice is a 'Samsong bucket'  which is basically a little bucket (as in a seaside bucket and spade) filled with Thai whiskey, redbull, coke and ice and is sold on every street corner, door step or passing motorbike.. Its an experience to say the least and comes with a not so fun throbbing headache the following day.  Luckily we were staying a little out of town so we could recover away from the masses the following day.

Here's a few photo's taken from our balcony.

I can definitely think of worse places to relax.. We stayed here for around a week unfortunately it was still raining like an Irish summer but it was still a great place to be....
